Soft washing is what we use on your siding, roof, and anything painted or delicate. It’s low pressure with cleaning solutions that do the heavy lifting. This method won’t void your siding warranty or blast paint off your trim. It kills mold and mildew instead of just rinsing it away, so your home stays cleaner longer.
Power washing is for hard surfaces like concrete driveways, brick walkways, and stone patios. Cambridge winters leave salt stains, oil spots, and ground-in dirt that need real pressure to remove. We adjust PSI based on the surface so you get it clean without pitting or damaging the material.

High-pressure washing can absolutely damage siding, strip paint, and force water behind your exterior walls. That’s why we don’t use high pressure on those surfaces. We use soft washing, which is low-pressure cleaning with biodegradable solutions.
Soft washing is safe for vinyl, wood, fiber cement, and painted surfaces. It won’t void manufacturer warranties, and it won’t blast off the finish you paid good money for. The cleaning solution does the work by breaking down mold, algae, and dirt at a molecular level. We rinse it away gently.
For roofs, soft washing is the only method we recommend. High pressure can lift shingles, break seals, and shorten your roof’s lifespan. Our method kills the black streaks and moss without any risk of leaks or damage. Most roof manufacturers actually require soft washing to keep warranties valid.
Most Cambridge homes benefit from pressure washing every one to two years. The humid climate here accelerates mold and algae growth, especially on north-facing walls and shaded areas. If you’re seeing green or black streaks, you’re overdue.

The terms get used interchangeably, but technically power washing uses heated water and pressure washing uses regular temperature water. Both use high-pressure streams to clean hard surfaces.

Calling it power washing or pressure washing is less important than using the correct technique so nothing gets damaged and everything gets clean.
Most oil stains come up with the right combination of pressure, heat, and degreasing solution. Fresh stains are easier than old ones, but we’ve removed stains that have been there for years. It depends on how deep the oil penetrated and what type of surface you have.
Concrete is porous, so oil soaks in. We use a degreaser to break down the oil, then high-pressure hot water to lift it out. Asphalt is trickier because too much pressure can damage the surface, but we can still improve the appearance significantly with lower pressure and the right cleaning agents.
If the stain has been there for a decade and soaked deep into unsealed concrete, we might not get it 100% gone. But we’ll get it lighter and less noticeable. And once it’s clean, we can recommend a sealer to prevent future stains from setting in the same way.
You don’t have to be home the entire time, but we do need you there at the start and the end. We walk the property with you first so you can point out any concerns, show us what you want cleaned, and ask questions about the process.
During the actual cleaning, you’re welcome to stay or leave. Some homeowners like to watch, others have errands to run. We just need access to an outdoor water spigot and electricity if we’re using it. We’ll text or call if anything comes up.
At the end, we walk it with you again. You see the results, we make sure you’re happy, and you can point out anything you want us to touch up. We don’t consider the job done until you’re satisfied. That final walkthrough matters because it’s your home and your money.
